The trip to the coast in the Ham was fun. However assessing our life and resources, we decided it was more important for TR to have a retreat and studio at home than to get this unit entirely roadworthy. So we created the Ham Nebula, a fun name for the Ham with it's accompanying porch and roof structure and surrounding meadow. Here's a few shots of how that all happened, and of how the Ham looked in 2007.

R. parked it in an out-of-the way spot in the orchard and built a roof frame around and......

...over the Ham and a platform porch I had already built in the meadow back in 2001, intending to have some sort of studio structure or cabin out there someday. The Ham nestled right up to it and we bridged the gap with another step section to get even with the floor. Blocks and jacks support the frame and tongue underneath. A tarp covers the roof temporarily.

The porch is a lovely place to hang out in the summer and fall, especially with my friends who shed. Notice the stove on the porch, I decided i don't want the cooking fumes and gas inside. The space is used for a desk instead. I have a long cable for shore power.

Spring 2007, Oh how the grass does grow out here in the Ham Nebula!

It's a comfortable and fun place in winter as well, heated with a 500w silent electric radiator heater with wool rugs on the floor and thick curtains pulled on the windows at night.
