This unique collaboration of Debbie Diedrich, TR Kelley, Katie Henry and Laura Kemp, four of the Pacific Northwest's finest songwriters, built a loyal and enthusiastic following during the 1990's.
Each woman is an accomplished songwriter, guitarist and multi-instrumentalist in her own right, as evidenced by their 10+ (and growing!) individual and 2 group recordings available. Kelley is a bassist, Diedrich plays keyboards, and Kemp plays dobro and harmonica, Henry is fluent on flute and banjo as well as guitar. Their unearthly command of complex vocal harmony, powerful assortment of instrumental and writing styles combined with an obvious respect and enthusiasm for each others' work allowed BWA to present a range and depth of material not possible for a solo artist or a traditional band. Their second disc, Live Axe has been described by Sing Out! as "a remarkable recording, the kind that comes along once every decade or so."
It was great while it lasted! Life and circumstance have pulled the members of BWA into different musical and personal pursuits. There are a very finite number of those two stunning live recordings left, and no plans to ever physically re-press them so order now.
